Our data-driven Coven tier list for Witchspire Patch 0.1.4. We tested each class on the same boss dummy in solo play, then in a 6-player co-op session. The tier list below weighs single-target DPS, survivability, Hearth utility, and co-op synergy.

| Tier | Coven | Role | Solo DPS | Co-op Synergy | Best Build |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| S | Mirewarden | Frontline Tank | Excellent | High | Mirewarden Hearth Healer |
| S | Emberkin | Burst DPS | Excellent | High | Emberkin Ignite Bomber |
| A | Threadmaiden | Support / Summoner | Strong | High | Threadmaiden Familiar Support |
| A | Gloamcaller | Ranged DPS / Debuffer | Strong | High | Gloamcaller Boss Shred |
| B | Tidecaller | Hybrid DPS / Healer | Average | Medium | Tidecaller Hybrid Farmer |
| B | Stonekin | Defender / Builder | Average | Medium | Stonekin Hearth Architect |
Each Coven was leveled to 30 with a Hearth at level 8, then run through three scenarios:
Numbers were averaged over five runs. Co-op synergy was rated by the other five players in the co-op session (1–5 stars).
Emberkin is the best solo Coven. It has the highest burst damage, the fastest broom flight speed, and its signature spell (Pyre Cascade) clears packs of weaker enemies in one cast. The downside is its squishiness at low Hearth levels — run a Hearth Hound familiar until you hit Hearth level 5.
The second-best solo Coven is Mirewarden. It’s slower but never dies, and its self-heal makes it the most forgiving class in the game.
In a 6-player co-op session, the best Coven is Threadmaiden. Its Loom of Names spell buffs the entire party’s Familiar damage by 35%, and its mana-regen aura means you’ll never run out of resources in long fights.
The ideal 6-player composition is two Threadmaidens, two Emberkins, one Mirewarden, and one Stonekin (as the dedicated Hearth builder).
Stonekin is the most beginner-friendly Coven. It has the cheapest crafting, the highest Hearth build speed, and Spirit Dust farming is almost trivial. The trade-off is the lowest boss DPS in the game — but you can swap to a different Coven later via the Hearth.
Yes. Speak to the Coven Keeper at your Hearth and pay a Spirit Dust cost to switch. You keep your Coven rank progress on the original Coven.
Almost certainly. Witchspire is in Early Access and balance patches land every 2–3 weeks. We’ll keep this list updated after every major patch.
Every Coven has at least one romanceable NPC. Threadmaiden and Tidecaller have the most — see the romance guide for the full list.
